Temporal binding

One fixed grain, repeated. Slow it down and it separates into events; accelerate it and rhythm crosses through flutter into pitch. Add drift and the seam begins to unravel.

Two trains

Two clocks run almost together. At low rates they drift in and out of phase; at high rates that same difference is heard as tremor, beating, and finally an interval.
