Essays¶
Status: Reader orientation — a selection of essays with different kinds of argument.
An essay gives a thought time to change. These texts begin with particular encounters and follow their consequences across systems, art, identity, and shared life. Their own status lines distinguish interpretation, working hypotheses, and formal arguments.
A song, a room, a world¶
What a World Can Remember begins with a song heard again after twenty years. What has survived: a recording, a listener, or the possibility of another encounter? A philosophical essay, newly written on 25 September 2026.
What the trace leaves out¶
From Trace to Generator asks how we move from an observed pattern to an account of what produced it. Sound, images, and computation provide different ways into the question. The text retains its earlier language alongside the limits established by the foundations audit.
The parts and the whole¶
Cooperative Intelligence at the Separatrix explores a group whose participants can bring different capacities to shared work. It asks what the cooperation adds, what it costs, and what must remain open to refusal.
What people keep doing¶
From Action to Culture follows the distance between a represented rule and a practice someone can actually continue. Its account of recurrent practice is a working hypothesis, with links to the research traditions it draws on.
The things an objective forgets¶
Optimization and Its Blindness asks what happens when success at a chosen task damages the conditions around it. It is an entrance to the notebook's research on viability and constraints.
Machines of loving grace¶
Machines of Loving Grace takes up an older image of coexistence between nature and machines. It belongs to the notebook's conversation between literary imagination and system design.
